About Mini Meadows
Set in 12 acres of the rolling Northamptonshire countryside in the village of Welford, is Mini Meadows Farm, a specialist breeder of rare and unusual poultry (and hybrid egg laying machines).
We now have a lovely little children’s farm boasting a large array of cute, not so cute, small and not so small farm animals, so come and see what we have to show you.
Visitors both young an old get enormous pleasure from meeting our animals. For many it’s a way of transforming pictures they see in books into a living experience..
Happy, Healthy Hens
Our breeding stock has been gathered from the countries top breeders over the years. We incubate and supply fertile hatching eggs nationwide from the rare breeds listed on our website. Using only state-of-the-art equipment we ensure that the best results and full care is taken from incubation to fully grown adult birds.
All of our birds range freely in large grassy enclosures and they are raised and fed on the best poultry diet. We also undergo a rigorous worming and vaccination regime for all our breeding and reared stock, ensuring that you collect birds in perfect health. The vaccination programme for the young birds takes 16 weeks to complete, and we will only supply birds that have completed the full programme. See our vaccination programme for further details.
If you have any queries at all, please feel free to contact us via the contact page or by phone and we will be glad to help.
If you are not sure which chicken is right for you, come and have a look. We are always available to show you around.
Holiday care for your hens..
Of course, the best place for your birds whilst you are on holiday is in their own home and environment, keeping stress levels to a minimum. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, so we can offer the second best thing, a ‘home-from-home’ for your birds, when you are away.
In order to protect our birds and yours they will be dusted on arrival, with an anti-mite powder.
Birds are kept in ‘owner groups’ in secure houses and runs which are thoroughly cleaned and disinfected between visiting groups of birds. Birds will NOT be let out to free range whilst in our care. Bedding will be changed at least twice a week.
We will provide all food (layers pellets and mixed corn), grit and fresh water. You are welcome to leave a supply of your own feed/treats for use, if you prefer.
Cost just 50p per hen/day
